Multi-modal transportation of healthcare products from Moscow to Miami was successfully completed by ABC聽for DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) in聽accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards of cool chain.
The RKN is a certified air cargo ULD (Unit Load Device), that ensures seamless handling and maintains product temperatures in the 2 to 8掳C range, in the controlled room temperature (15 to 25 掳C) range or at any chosen set temperature within the operating range of 0 to 20掳C.
The trial shipment was operated with service water replacing real vaccines in order to test delivery process at each step of transportation and monitor condition of water, which duplicates state of vaccines under similar circumstances. Together with DHL Global Forwarding Russia, ABC pharma logistics practitioners opted for abcPharma active Envirotainer solution.
ABC team with DGF assistance provided Envirotainer to customer鈥檚 warehouse and accepted cargo as a fully built up unit, ready for carriage on its airport warehouse premises.
It is a new solution on the Russian market when RKN is physically loaded in a pharmaceutical cooler of production plant without additional cross-doc operations during the main leg delivery to Miami.
A complex solution of ABC and DGF teams which covered delivery, leasing and customs clearance guaranteed to the customer a minimum transit time and absence of temperature risk.
On the 24 November ABC鈥檚 Boeing 747 freighter took off from Moscow on its direct route to Chicago, where ABC team monitored offloading and guaranteed smooth transportation of Envirotainer onto a refrigerated truck to take more than 400kg of 鈥榲accines鈥� further to Miami.
Even though the special container is featured to be run on batteries more than 90 hours and sustain required temperature range, it was decided to maintain 50 C inside the truck to introduce double safety measures.
From Miami, precious consignment continued its journey to Managua in RKN by air.

In September 2017 AirBridgeCargo enhanced pharma services by gaining Envirotainer QEP accreditation at its global hub at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and in Dallas.
For only two months the company managed to get accreditation for its online stations in Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Los Angeles and Chicago, thus raising the bar of its service quality for temperature-sensitive cargo.
