Growing up was a joy for me. Family life was very stable, I am the middle child of three and went through life as most children do, care free and having a good time. My dad was the Pastor of the local Christian church and taught part time at the local high school, as a result I grew up going to church an average of three times a week which formed a good basis of Jesus and the bible.
As I grew older, although I still attended church, all the morals I had learnt became mere head knowledge and rarely affected the way I lived or the decisions I made. High school, football became the focus of my life and I was introduced to new ways of thinking and realised that there was a lot more to life than church and Jesus.
At the age of 16 my life came to a point where I was faced with a decision about the direction my life would take. On one hand I had all my friends, football pulling me one way and on the other hand the knowledge of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
This decision forced me to search out the hard facts about Jesus, his claims, his life and whether or not he really was the son of God.
"So for the first time I accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and saviour, I prayed a simple prayer and although nothing radical happened at first, I had a peace that my sins were forgiven and through Jesus I gained eternal life."
After my search, I could not deny that Jesus really was the son of god, he was the only one to claim he was God, the only one to claim he could forgive sins and the only man to die and rise again three days later.
So for the first time I accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and saviour, I prayed a simple prayer and although nothing radical happened at first, I had a peace that my sins were forgiven and through Jesus I gained eternal life.
Since then, over the next numbers of years I finished my carpentry apprenticeship, got married to my beautiful wife Maz and we have two boys.
